BMC, one of the Turkish armored ground vehicle manufacturers, exported 8 × 8 Tank Carrier Tactical Wheeled Vehicles to a NATO country.
According to the company statement, North Macedonia, which was accepted to NATO in the past months, has become the first abroad customer of the vehicle. The combat weight of the platform, which is capable of serving main battle tanks, especially Altay, is 120 tons. Currently, there are 72 units of 8 × 8 Tank Carrier Wheeled Vehicles in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory with a towing capacity of 70 tons. The vehicle, which has a 620 hp diesel engine and a 7 forward and 1 reverse gearbox, can reach a speed of 90 km per hour. The operational range of the vehicle, which can climb 60% steep slope and move at a 30% side slope, is 950 kilometers.
In addition to the M60T Sabra, M60 Patton, Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 main battle tanks, the platform allows the transportation of all types of land vehicles, especially platforms such as the T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzer, ZPT, ZMA-15, and Akıncı ZMA. The vehicle can carry 1 main battle tank or two Armored Combat Vehicles at the same time.
