“The cyber security field has almost become a national security field. The goods, networks, weapons are intelligent. In an all-encompassing world, the security of this intelligent device, weapon, network, and the material has now begun to gain importance at the primary level,” Turkish National Defense Minister Fikri Işık said.
A protocol has signed between the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications for the cooperation about cyber security. Speaking at the signing ceremony held in the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Minister Işık stated that cyber area changes the world.
“This protocol will cover the issues of cyber security, e-government services, cloud computing, electronic communications infrastructure, public safety and emergency response communications. Havelsan is one of the most important institutions in Turkey working on this subject. It is extremely important that Havelsan and our STM company work in the area of cyber security. Here we have to follow the business part very carefully. TUBITAK and Havelsan, Havelsan and STM, all of this coordination of the General Directorate of Communications needs to work very hard in their field” Işık said.
“Pardus was almost deserted”
Işık also said that Havelsan has been working extensively with TUBITAK for the development of the national operation system Pardus and for the dissemination in the country. Emphasizing that the business association is extremely important, Işık continued:
“If we use our own national operating system, we get a huge advantage in the area of cyber safety. The most common operating systems in the world are, in fact, a security breach. One of the most important ways to overcome this is to expand our own national operation system. During the period of Science, Industry and Technology, Pardus was almost deserted. There was an engineer and a project manager. We had over 60 working colleagues in the period we were leaving and had come to a certain point. At this point, our minister friend is also working hard on this subject. However, Havelsan and TUBITAK are continuing to work together to spread it all over Turkey. I care this so much. ”
