Nail Kurt, FNSS General Manager and CEO, gave information about the project where domestic engines will be used. The 6×6 and 8×8 armored ground vehicles, which will be produced for the Turkish Armed Forces and powered by the domestic engine, will be used in 2021.
Platform and engine development studies are continuing for 100 6×6 and 8×8 vehicles to be produced within the scope of the Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles Project.
Expressing that TÜMOSAN has reached a certain point, Kurt stated that a joint work is needed afterwards and the preparations for the engine for 6×6 and 8×8 vehicles were started with the signing of the contract with the approval of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).
“In the first stage, 450 horsepower, then 550 horsepower engine will be unveiled in the coming period, maybe at the end of the year, maybe a little earlier. We anticipate entering vehicle deliveries, even 6 × 6 and 8 × 8 vehicle tests with this engine. This will coincide with 2021. In 2021, we will be able to show an armored vehicle with a domestic engine,” Nail Kurt, FNSS CEO, said to Anadolu Agency Defence Correspondent Göksel Yıldırım.
