Under the leadership of Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), STM accelerated the development of national submarine technologies.
The crucial part of the submarines where torpedo shells are located will be produced in Turkey.
With the agreement signed on April 25, 2017 by STM, it was decided to manufacture the head part (Section 50) of torpedo shells for 4 new type submarines. The part, named Section 50, will be produced in new facility to be built in Turkey within 4 years. Previously, the production of these parts in Germany is foreseen. The main part of the torpedo shells, which have critical importance for the submarines, will be produced in new facilities to be installed in Yalova within the scope of ‘Industrialization and Domestic Contribution Activities’.
These parts, which will be produced for four types of submarines, will be delivered to Gölcük Shipyard.
The facilities to be installed in Yalova will be capable of supporting the Turkish shipbuilding industry, heavy industry, war and space industry and production of many parts of nuclear power plants.
